Students from DACC’s Biotechnology program recently participated in the annual Ohio Association for Career and Technical Education (Ohio ACTE) Student Showcase at the Ohio Statehouse. This event provides a platform for students from across the state to exhibit their innovative projects and the practical skills they've acquired through career-technical education.
Our students engaged visitors with a hands-on activity at their booth, demonstrating the process of micropipetting with a creative twist. Visitors used micropipettes to create a colorful visual display by arranging colorful liquids in artistic patterns. This activity not only showcased the precision and technique involved in micropipetting but also provided a glimpse into the advanced equipment and hands-on learning experiences available in our Biotechnology program.
Participation in the Ohio ACTE Student Showcase offers our students a unique opportunity to engage directly with state legislators, providing them with firsthand insight into the value and impact of career and technical education. These interactions are instrumental in strengthening relationships with our state representatives and keeping them informed about the exceptional work being done at institutions like DACC.
Thank you to Career Readiness Coordinator Lisa-Marie Reinhart and Biotechnology Instructor Mr. Tom Dyer for their dedication and mentorship. Their commitment to guiding our students and facilitating their involvement in this event is deeply appreciated.
The Ohio ACTE Student Showcase is a testament to the collaborative efforts of educators, students, and policymakers in advancing career-technical education in Ohio. We are honored to have been a part of this year's event and look forward to continuing our mission of empowering, preparing, inspiring, and connecting our students to future opportunities.
