Earlier this fall, DACC welcomed a delegation from the Japanese Business Trade Organization (JETRO) to explore potential collaborations and work-based learning opportunities for DACC students.
The visit brought together Japanese business leaders and DACC representatives for a day of engaging dialogue and hands-on learning. JETRO recognized that many of the delegates did not speak English, so it provided specialized translation technology to bridge the language barrier. DACC students and staff embraced the opportunity to use this technology, communicating in a way they had never done before. Our students' courage and confidence in professionally presenting themselves to an international audience exemplified the skills and adaptability they developed through their DACC education.
DACC student Tejas Sinha served as the student representative during the visit, sharing insights about the career-focused education offered at DACC. Josh Chalfant from Environmental Management, Inc., a longtime DACC business partner, also participated in the day’s events, providing a real-world perspective on the value of partnerships between local businesses and the career center.
After participating in a panel discussion, the delegation toured DACC’s engineering and welding programs to see firsthand the advanced training offered to students. A special thank you goes to Holly Musick and Marley Loftin for providing an exceptional tour of the Engineering Technician program, showcasing the cutting-edge skills students gain to prepare for careers in technical fields.
This visit was a unique opportunity to strengthen DACC’s connections with international business leaders and demonstrate how the career center prepares students to thrive in the global workforce. By building relationships with organizations like JETRO, DACC continues to create meaningful pathways for students to access future career opportunities.
We are excited to build on this collaboration and look forward to developing new partnerships with JETRO members to further support student success.
