DACC Staff Spotlight: Alyssa Fickert, Intervention Specialist

AIyssa Fickert is in her 4th year at DACC. Before DACC, she was an Educational Aide at Westerville Central High School. It was there Alyssa was inspired to go back to school to earn her teaching certification.

Alyssa’s favorite teaching memory is having the honor of handing out a diploma for the very first time. “It’s an honor to be asked by a student and to know that I made an impact of them is the most rewarding feeling. I love Career Tech Education because there is so much value to be found. Students can find a place where they belong and I love being a part of that journey.”

When she’s not teaching, Alyssa enjoys hiking with her family and exploring local parks. She also teaches dance a few times per week. Dance is something that has been a part of her life since the age of 3. “I will always have a special connection with the arts. You can learn so much through visual and performing arts and l love sharing my passion with others.” Additionally, Alyssa enjoys gardening and dabbling in DIY home improvement projects.

Alyssa and her husband, Joey, have a son, Atlas, and Chihuahua-Miniature Pinscher, Eleanor.

Favorite quote: “You’ve gotta dance like there’s nobody watching; love like you'll never be hurt. Sing like there’s nobody listening; and live like it's heaven on earth.”—William W. Purkey
