November Board Meeting

At the November 21st Delaware Area Career Center (DACC) Board of Education meeting, attendees were treated to an engaging presentation by the Biotechnology program and a special moment of recognition for DACC’s veteran staff members.

Biotechnology: Fuels, Heals, and Inspires

Tom Dyer, instructor of the Biotechnology program, joined several of his students to showcase the growing importance of biotechnology and its role in fueling and healing the world. During the presentation, Mr. Dyer provided data on the expanding biotech industry in Central Ohio, highlighting the influx of businesses and job opportunities. He explained that biotechnology not only creates direct career paths in the field but also generates demand for professionals in engineering, coding, maintenance, and related industries.

Students Morgan Lowe (Buckeye Valley High School), Jayden Hines (Worthington Kilbourne High School), Sophia Newland (Delaware Hayes High School), and CJ Alexander (Buckeye Valley High School) shared their personal experiences in the program. Morgan Lowe expressed his enthusiasm for the hands-on learning opportunities, saying, “It’s a great experience, and it’s preparing us for what we’ll do in the working world.” He specifically highlighted his environmental testing projects, which are designed to simulate real-world scenarios.

The presentation offered a glimpse into the exciting future of biotech careers and how DACC prepares students to meet the demands of an evolving workforce.
