On Tuesday, November 5, the Delaware Area Career Center hosted Biotech Horizons, a special college and career event designed to provide our DACC students with invaluable opportunities to connect with industry and education leaders. The event brought together a variety of professionals and institutions who shared their expertise and passion for the life sciences, giving students a firsthand look at the exciting paths available in this innovative field.
The day began with a Life Sciences Overview presented by Lisa-Marie Reinhart, DACC Career Readiness Coordinator, and Tom Dyer, DACC Biotechnology Instructor. Students then participated in breakout sessions, where they engaged directly with representatives from industry-leading organizations and explored specialized topics such as gene therapy, natural food chemistry, and advanced biotech research.
Highlights of the event included a career expo featuring partners such as AmplifyBio, Andelyn Biosciences, Nationwide Children’s Hospital, OSU Department of Food Science & Technology, Columbus State Community College, and Form 5 Prosthetics. Each partner generously shared insights into their work, from cutting-edge gene therapy manufacturing to sustainable food science and 3D-printed prosthetics innovation.
We are deeply grateful to all our partners for their time, knowledge, and enthusiasm. Their support ensures that DACC students are empowered to explore their passions and pursue meaningful careers in biotechnology and beyond.
Thank you to everyone who helped make Biotech Horizons a success and for being a partner in education!
