Justin Grubb, a 2010 graduate of the Columbus Zoo and Aquarium School program, has been inducted into the 2024 DACC Hall of Fame for his extraordinary achievements in wildlife conservation and media, as well as his continued efforts to educate and inspire others.
Justin’s passion for wildlife conservation began at DACC, where he impressed both peers and staff with his dedication to environmental stewardship. He went on to earn a degree in Biology with a specialization in Marine Biology from Bowling Green State University, launching a career that has taken him around the world.
As a Biologist and Science Communicator, Justin worked at the Toledo Zoo, leading international conservation efforts. He later moved to Florida, where he taught Marine Biology and helped develop a marine laboratory at the Mayport Coastal Sciences Academy.
Justin’s greatest impact has come through his media work. As the co-founder of Running Wild Media, Justin has created award-winning documentaries that raise awareness about wildlife conservation. His work has been featured on prestigious platforms such as BBC ONE, National Geographic, and PBS. He has received numerous awards, including the "Best Short" from the New York Wild Film Festival.
In addition to his media work, Justin co-founded the Sleeping Bear Wildlife Fund, where he serves as Board President, and continues to advocate for conservation through Planet Indonesia, where he acts as the Communications and Outreach Officer.
Justin’s ability to use his platform to bring global attention to critical environmental issues and his ongoing mentorship of students at DACC make him a deserving inductee into the 2024 Hall of Fame.
