Andres

Doug Andres, a 2013 graduate of DACC’s Welding and Sheet Metal Fabrication program, has been inducted into the 2024 DACC Hall of Fame for his remarkable contributions to welding education and his role in shaping future generations of welders.

As a student, Doug was among the first to take advantage of a Job Placement opportunity in welding, securing a position with Kokosing Construction. His passion for welding led him to the SkillsUSA competitions, where he earned second place in the state with his team.

After gaining field experience, Doug furthered his education at the Hobart Institute of Welding Technology. His skills and dedication caught the attention of his former DACC instructor, Brad DeMent, who invited him to return as an Adult Education Welding Instructor. Doug’s passion for teaching became apparent, and he eventually took over the high school welding program, where he has led students to great success, including a 100% pass rate on the American Welding Society D9.1 welding certification.

Doug’s impact goes beyond the classroom. He has been actively involved in his community through organizations like 4-H and FFA, and he continues to inspire young people through his volunteer work at events like Welding Merit Badge Days for the Boy Scouts of America.

Doug’s dedication to the welding industry and his commitment to teaching have left a lasting legacy at DACC and beyond, making him a well-deserving inductee into the 2024 Hall of Fame.

The next Hall of Fame Induction will be held in 2029. Learn more on our Hall of Fame page here.
