Parsio

Alex Parsio, a 2016 graduate of DACC’s Agriculture Science program, is now thriving in the world of research as a Student Research Assistant in the Department of Food, Agricultural, and Biological Engineering at The Ohio State University. Having attended both DACC and Big Walnut High School, Alex attributes much of his success to the foundational skills he gained through the Agriculture Science program.

Reflecting on his experience, Alex shares how DACC helped him build the professional skills necessary for his current role. “The Agriculture Science program at Big Walnut taught me to be comfortable outside of my comfort zone and helped me make valuable connections for the future,” he says. These critical thinking skills, combined with a strong understanding of the agricultural industry, have not only supported his academic journey but also his work in research, where he continues to grow and learn.

Alex’s advice to current DACC students emphasizes the importance of staying engaged and open to new experiences: “Be active in as much as you can handle. Don’t be afraid to go outside your comfort zone, and take every opportunity to make connections. A lot in life is about who you know, not just what you know,” he advises.

Alex Parsio’s story illustrates how DACC’s Agriculture Science program not only prepares students for success in their chosen fields but also teaches them the value of adaptability and relationship-building. His journey serves as a reminder to embrace every opportunity and to keep pushing beyond the comfort zone for both personal and professional growth.
