The DACC Landscape, Architecture, and Construction students recently competed in the 8th Annual Ohio High School Landscape Olympics. Hosted by the Ohio Green Industry Association (OGIA), the event served as a platform for our students to not only showcase their talents but also to bring home a number of awards.
Held at Ohio State University's Agricultural Technical Institute in Wooster, Ohio, the competition featured a variety of landscape-related events. Students from DACC competed against their peers from across the state, demonstrating their skills in everything from plant identification to equipment operation.
Our DACC students earned gold medals in Skid Steer, Sales Presentation, Surveying, Plant Install, Sod Install, Turf, Irrigation, Landscape Design, and Tree Climbing. They also secured a silver medal in Hardscape Install and a bronze in Woody Plant ID.
Individual achievements include:
- Zach Biniker took 1st Place

Our overall Champion Team included: Luz Alarcon Escamilla, Jason Burt, Jayden Le, Logan Pbast, Nathan Wiesner, Jaedan VanGundy, Zach Biniker, Tobin Corneau, Lilly Rush, Huber Gomez, Mikai Thiam, Lili Aleshire, and Garrett Fazekas.
Beyond the competition, the event also offered students invaluable networking opportunities with green industry professionals. Companies were on hand to discuss career paths and potential internships, providing our students with a glimpse into their future careers.
Participation in the Ohio High School Landscape Olympics is just one example of how DACC is committed to offering real-world experiences that set our students up for future success. We can't wait to see what our students will achieve next!
