Construction Lab Program

Construction Technology

You will apply math, science, communication, and team-building skills to work on large and small construction projects, from beginning to end.

Program Highlights:

  • Construction safety procedures

  • Blueprint orientation

  • Construction math

  • Work with wood, plywood, wallboard, and metal

  • Use carpenter's hand tools

  • Proper use of power tools

  • Construct, erect, install, remodel, and repair structures

  • Participate in hands-on experiences in real community service projects

  • Participate in pre-apprenticeship opportunities during your senior year

Areas of Study:

  • Basic safety

  • Construction math

  • Sustainable Construction

  • Proper use of hand tools and power tools

  • Principles of Wood Construction

  • Blueprint reading

  • Carpentry and masonry

  • Wood building materials, fasteners, and adhesives

  • Structural systems

  • Floor systems

  • Structural coverings and finishings

  • Wall and ceiling framing, windows, and exterior doors

  • Practical experience with new residential construction application

Credits Available:

  • 3 elective credits per year

  • College credits available through articulation agreements with Columbus State Community College and Hocking College

Industry Credentials Available:

  • National Association of Home Builders

  • 10 hours of OSHA Certificate***

  • Skid Loader Certification

  • CITF - Creer Connections Level 1

  • CITF - Creer Connections Level 2

  • CITF - Creer Connections Level 3

***Industry credential recognized by ODE for points toward graduation.

This program is participating in the Chromebook One to One Experience. An additional one-time fee to purchase a Chromebook will be waived if you are a returning student who has already participated in the Chromebook One to One Experience or if you are bringing your own technology.
