Jordan Hicks, a Westerville North High School graduate has transformed his DACC Health Technology education into a heroic career. Today, Jordan serves his community as a Firefighter Paramedic in Westerville, a role he has passionately filled since 2017. His journey through the fire service began east of Columbus, complemented by a pivotal stint as a tech/medic in the Emergency Room at St. Ann's. Jordan's enthusiasm for his profession is infectious, citing every day's unique challenges as the fuel for his problem-solving drive.
Reflecting on his DACC experience, Jordan highlights the invaluable preparation he received: “The practical workshops and hands-on lab experiences at DACC were game-changers. The resume-building, interview practice, and portfolio development propelled me forward. And yes, I still apply the life skills I learned there daily, down to how I put on a pillowcase, all thanks to Ms. Budd’s unique method.”
Jordan's advice to current and future DACC students resonates with purpose and pragmatism: “Stay focused on why you chose DACC and keep your ambitions clear. Utilize the tools and opportunities at your disposal—they’re stepping stones to your success. Embrace self-reflection for continuous improvement, seek challenges for growth, and remember that hard work is the foundation of achievement. Your goals are attainable, but it's up to you to pursue them with dedication.”
