Alternative Learning Day

May 23, 2019
Delaware Area Career Center

On Thursday, May 23, 2019, Delaware Area Career Center Staff will host a completer (level two students) breakfast, awards recognition and walk-thru in preparation for the completion ceremony that will be held that evening at Mershon Auditorium.  Current 9th-11th half and full day students who attend Delaware Area Career Center North Campus will not be physically in attendance at school that day.

Students are to participate in an alternative learning experience by completing job shadowing during the duration of class time or by completing an assignment given by their instructor(s).  Full day students can complete an entire day of job shadowing.  Half-day students will need to have approval from home school teachers to participate in a full day job shadow.

South juniors will have a regularly scheduled day.  During lab time in the morning, students will participate in a pilot program focusing on employment rights, responsibilities, and communication.  Our academic staff will supervise students during lab time and then full day students will stay for academics in the afternoon.  Engineering 10 Students will also have a normal day with lab in the afternoon.

All assignments for full or half day students at North are due upon the return to school on Tuesday, May 28, 2019.  Failure to return the required assignment or proof of job shadowing experience would mean that the day of school missed will be counted as an unexcused absence.

We are proud of our programs and believe that we offer unique and valuable educational options for area students.  We appreciate your support of this important day so we can acknowledge the hard work and dedication of our students who have completed their chosen programs.
