Annual Food Fight for PIN

November 20, 2011

The annual DACC Food Fight for Delaware County People In Need is here once again! November 28th – December 2nd (the week after Thanksgiving) is the official food drive. At stake this year, in addition to the honor and glory of winning this 18-year tradition is a pizza party for the winning lab!

New this year – the am and pm classes will each be counted separately. So now it’s a competition against labs and against juniors and seniors.

Teachers will be stockpiling the donations in lab during the week and will transport it all to the LGIA at South Campus and the front commons at North Campus on Friday, the final day of the food drive to verify the score. Here’s how the food is scored:
½ point for ramen noodles
1 point for other cheap carbohydrates like macaroni and cheese and other noodles
3 points for all canned fruits, vegetables, and beans
5 points for high quality proteins like canned meats and peanut butter
Non-food items will not be scored, but they will be accepted and donated

Students will be transporting the food on December 7th to the Delaware County Fairgrounds and the winning class from each campus (the most points per student) will be eating pizza on Friday, December 9th!

Check out photos from last year's Food Fight - over 11,000 cans and boxes were collected.

Good luck to everyone!
