DACC Students Qualify for National Competition

March 20, 2013

On March 14th and 15th, career and technical education students from all over the state of Ohio gathered at the Columbus Convention Center to compete for the State Championship in their areas of study, including graphic design, web design, interviewing skills, keyboarding, and network design. Madison Areseneau took first place in graphic design and will be going on to compete at the national level in Florida later this spring. The web design team of Moriah Howard, Kyle Huddleston, and Hannah Clegg took second place and will join Madison at the national competition.

Hannah, along with classmate Bre Floyd, both won scholarships of $1,000 each to help them continue their education after graduation. Both girls have been accepted to the School of Advertising Art.

"We're all very excited to have the opportunity to compete at the national level,” said Hannah. We worked very hard to get there, and we're so happy that our work paid off. It was such a rewarding experience to do so well at states and we hope to do well again when we compete at nationals."

Madison shared that she’s excited for the opportunity to travel and to compete at such a high level. Between now and the national competition, she plans to tweak her design and practice her presentation.

Placing in the top ten across the state were the Video Production Team of Morgan Jolliff, Alex Diamond, Coral Dannatt, and Alex Mabry; Duc Vu for Interview Skills, and Tasha Thomas for Advanced Keyboarding.
