Congratulations to Sam for being recognized by the Sunbury Chamber

April 19, 2011

On Friday, April 15th, the Sunbury Chamber of Commerce held their annual recognition of exceptional Big Walnut High School students at their Spring Breakfast. Six students were honored, including Samantha Stambaugh. Samantha hails from Big Walnut, but attends DACC\\'s Environmental Technology Program as a full day student. Samantha attended the award ceremony with her Environmental Technology Instructor, Paul Grimes, and her mother, Kelly Stambaugh.

Samantha was nominated by DACC Superintendent, Mary Beth Freeman. According to Ms. Freeman, Samantha was chosen because of her desire to give back to others within and outside of the school setting. Samantha is also a leader at DACC, participating in the student ambassador program that empowers students to speak about the school and raise awareness of what DACC has to offer students and the community. She is a student blogger - one of eight students chosen to share her experiences at DACC through a blog on the school\\'s web site. She is also a member of The Superintendent\\'s Cabinet Team, a group of students who meet regularly with strategic leaders in the school, including the Superintendent, to discuss strategic plans for the school.

After graduation, Sam plans to attend Wright State for Microbiology and hopes to study diseases in preparation for someday offering vaccinations overseas to those less fortunate.

We feel fortunate to have Sam as a student at DACC. Congratulations on this award Sam and good luck with your plans for the future.

Congratulations to Sam for being recognized by the Sunbury Chamber of Commerce!
